Challenge.
Cisco’s IronPort division needed a team to continuously monitor virus activity and quickly script and deploy virus definitions to ensure the security of their appliances across multiple global datacenters. A critical challenge was the time-sensitive nature of defect identification and resolution, as rapid deployment was required to prevent security breaches. They also faced difficulties coordinating efforts across their teams in different regions.

Sonatafy Technology sourced and deployed a highly skilled team of DevOps engineers and quality assurance professionals from the Asia-Pacific region. This team worked closely with Cisco’s security division to provide real-time monitoring and rapid response to virus threats. Utilizing automated test tools, PERL scripting, and deployment scripts, Sonatafy’s team was able to identify and correct defects within minutes. The team was also tasked with ensuring virus definitions were updated and deployed across thousands of IronPort appliances globally within a 20-minute window.

Over a five-year engagement, Sonatafy’s team successfully monitored and updated Cisco’s virus definitions within 20 minutes of identification, reducing the time between defect identification and deployment. The nearshore team grew to 35 engineers, and following the successful implementation of their Build Operate Transfer model, the team was integrated into Cisco’s operations. This collaboration helped Cisco significantly improve the performance and security of their IronPort appliances worldwide.
